London is freakin’ hot today! I had to break the habit of a lifetime and change into my shorts (below the knee, fact fans – don’t worry) because of the 30 degree heat.
I’ve still gone through about 4 litres of water regardless. Decided to forgo the bus tour and leave that for tomorrow to fill the morning before the next train journey. Instead I went a-wandering. Hopped on and off the underground system a bunch… And I hear Londoners moan about it? I think it’s utterly fantastic. Granted I don’t use it every day, so my view may be skewed. I navigated with no problems.
Did the touristy thing and went to take photos of Big Ben, the London Eye, Piccadilly Circus and even 221b Baker Street! May get some more later, at the moment I am camped in my hotel room in Barking, charging the living bejeebus out of my phone and hiding from direct sunlight as much as humanly possible.
Managed to get a draft pint of Wychwood’s Hobgoblin, and sampled the local produce in Fuller’s London Pride. Quite the tipple! I’ve found the London folk to be quite friendly and chatty on the whole, surprising me a little as I remember visiting years ago and chatting to my friend on the underground and seeing people horrified at TALKING on the train.
With this weather, I think I’m seeing the best the city folk have to offer.
I’m now going to hop in a freezing cold shower, grab some food and head off into central London later on to meet my friend. I aim to hit three bars that I have read up on, so wish me luck navigating the tube again. Oh, and I must visit the Cart and Horses like the little Iron Maiden fanboy I am!
To be continued…
